IT IS EXTREMELY RARE THAT WE SEE A force play at the plate on an apparent base hit to the outfield. But when the runner on third gets a late start, this can happen.

The Mets and Astros played in Houston on August 2. With the Mets leading, 4-2, in the bottom of the ninth inning and Billy Wagner on the mound, the Astros had the bases loaded and one out when pinch-hitter Geoff Blum sent a drive to left field for a base hit. Mets' left fielder Fernando Tails played the ball on a hop.

I was skeptical at first but Midnighty really came through. They answered all my questions and made the whole experience a plesant one.
